Background will put a piece of artwork under the whole planner, with the theme's own paper laid back over it so the writing stays as readable as it was. No artwork is painted yet, so there is no Background tray in Customize today.

Picking a background
Planye+Open Customize and look directly under Theme. Pick a piece and it rides underneath the whole planner, every view and every tab, until you pick another or go back to Plain.
Each piece belongs to one theme
Artwork is painted for the paper it sits on, so the tray changes when the theme above it does. Switching theme puts a picture away rather than throwing it out: come back to that theme and its artwork comes back with it.
Questions about backgrounds
The details, for when you want them. Nothing here is required reading.There is no Background group in my Customize. Where is it?
Nothing is painted yet, for any theme, so the group is hidden rather than shown empty. Artwork will land a piece at a time, and the tray appears under the themes that have some.
Do I need Planye+ for a background?
To keep one, yes. Trying them on is free, the same way themes work, and Plain is never locked. If a subscription lapses the page falls back to plain and your choice is remembered rather than erased.
Won't a picture behind everything make my planner hard to read?
No. Each piece is set to sit a certain distance back, with the theme's paper laid over it at that strength, so your writing keeps the contrast it was designed with. The pictures help too: quiet through the middle where the week sits, busier at the edges.
Does the artwork show on my phone too?
Yes. Background follows your account rather than the device, and the tray is there at every size.
How is this different from decorating a page?
A background is one picture under everything, chosen from what we painted. Decorating is your own stickers, tape and paper placed by hand on one particular week or month. See Decorating a page.
